From May 2018 to January 2020, I was not formally employed.

I had a shiny PhD, had been a postdoc for almost 3 years, and nobody would hire me.

To say I felt like a failure would be the understatement of the century.

Most days, my energy felt low as I received rejection after rejection. But you know something? I did several “little” things during my “gap” that I didn’t realize would pay off later. If you are going through an employment or career gap, I want you to know that it is not the end.
